The artwork depicts the scene of King Tutankhamen’s marriage ceremony. This marriage is considered as the first love story in history. The scene follows the progress of the love story between the king and the queen, which was crowned later on after their marriage. Starting from the left side of the scene, there is Queen Ankhesenamen offering gifts to King Tut; she holds the lotus flower, the symbol of love. In the central scene, we can see both king and queen exchanging the lotus of flowers, showing mutual love between them. The final right scene represents the marriage of the king and the queen, getting a happily ever after life together.
King Tutankhamen has crowned a pharaoh of Egypt for 10 years from 1333 BC to 1324 BC. He is well known in Egyptian history with his tomb in “the valley of the kings”. The English Egyptologist, Howard Carter, discovered it in 1922. He is the owner of the famous Golden mask that weighed about 10 kilos. Tut married his sister Ankhesenamen, it was moral behavior in ancient Egypt.
The scene on the Papyrus is handmade painted by Egyptian artists. They use Gouache paint, which is a royal paint used by the Ancient Egyptian artists. It is a combination of water and oil colors to give the scene its originality and value. Gouache paint has a heavy and lovely texture that absorbs light rather than reflecting it, creating a very smooth appearance. This makes it ideal for opaque coverage.
Our papyrus is handmade the same way as the Ancient Egyptians. We have a license from the government to make this papyrus of definitely high quality.
