A pure Egyptian papyrus represents an artistic scene of the Mamluk period of daily life in Al-Moez Street. On the right side, we can see the traders are discussing a piece of cloth. Besides that, we can see two camels are carrying two women led by a man, which was a kind of respect to a woman to not walk though men in the market. Other sellers on the left side of the image, showing the ongoing activity happen in everyday life in the market in the Mamluk period. In the background of the picture, we can see the al-Hakim Mosque. The Mamluk period was familiar with the special kind of buildings like (Mashrafia) which was a kind of windows open only from downside as the people at that time strongly believed in privacy and security, especially for women.
